One of the most common questions we hear from prospective customers is: “Do we need to migrate our documents into your platform?”
The answer has always been no. But today, we’re making it even easier to keep your documents exactly where they are.
Announcing Native Connectors
VectorAutomate now offers native connectors for SharePoint, Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, Box, and Confluence. These connectors allow VectorAutomate to index your existing documentation in place, without requiring you to move, copy, or restructure anything.
How Connectors Work
When you connect a document source, VectorAutomate performs an initial indexing pass. It reads the content, structure, and metadata of every supported document in the connected folder or library. This index is stored in VectorAutomate’s secure infrastructure, while your original documents remain untouched in their original location.
After the initial index, VectorAutomate monitors for changes. When documents are updated, added, or removed, the index is automatically re-synced. The default sync interval is every 15 minutes, but this is configurable per connector.
Version Tracking
Each time a document is re-indexed, VectorAutomate creates a new version snapshot. This means that citations always reference the specific version of the document that was current at the time the citation was created. Even if you update a manual in SharePoint, the old citations remain valid and traceable.
Security and Permissions
Connectors operate with read-only access. VectorAutomate never writes to, modifies, or deletes your source documents. Access is authenticated using OAuth 2.0, and all data in transit is encrypted with TLS 1.3.
For enterprise customers with strict data residency requirements, we support region-specific indexing infrastructure. Your document index is stored in the same geographic region as your VectorAutomate deployment.
Supported Document Types
The connectors support PDF, DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, HTML, and plain text files. For technical documentation, we also support structured formats like DITA XML and S1000D. Image-heavy documents (schematics, wiring diagrams) are processed using our OCR and visual analysis pipeline.
Getting Started
To add a connector, navigate to Settings > Integrations in your VectorAutomate dashboard. The setup wizard walks you through authentication, folder selection, and sync configuration. Most customers complete the initial setup in under 10 minutes.
If you’re not yet a VectorAutomate customer, request a demo and we’ll show you how connectors work with your specific document infrastructure.
